I believe in a Friendly Universe.
That’s a term my friend and life-coach, Laura Lavigne uses to describe her world view. And it rings true with all sorts of sonorous bells and whistles for yours truly.
In this day of 24/7 news culture and shocking/dark/tragic stories, it takes a Delight Detective’s persistence to highlight the good and light-filled world that embraces us. Evidence is abundant if we put on our special Yes and Yay lenses and have a look around.
Take, for example, my simple bicycle and blueberry picking field trip last week. Jeff and I rode around Sequim and collected the following Yes Oh Yes clues:
That’s just for starters!
How many Friendly Universe signs can you detect and collect in your neighborhood? I’d love to hear from you and see the evidence, just add your links in the comment section.
In Friendly Delight:

Frances,
I love the image of you riding all around town with your little cardboard “yes!” and “yay!” signs. So cute–and what a fantastic way to remember to be mindful of noticing the good things in life.
Here is one of my own snapshots–from our trip to Florida last December where you can apparently pick your own strawberries, tomatoes & Christmas trees all at the same time!

cheers,
Kristina
Hi Kristina, or shall I say Agent Wentzell?! Tomatoes, berries and Christmas trees at the same time? That’s Yes-worthy! ; ) Thanks for sending along the photo evidence. Shall I make you some cardboard signs? Jeff thinks I should upgrade to an FCF hand-painted snazzy sign…but I kinda like the low-tech cardboard look.
Hugs from here,
Frances
How delightful you are, Frances, you always put a smile on my face. Is that path really purple like it looks in the photo.
Keep up the good work.
Linda
Glad I tickled your fancy with my post Linda. And you get a gold star for detecting that the path is purple! I took a bit of liberty with Photoshop to snazz up the path in my Friendly Universe photo from the dull gray to a zippy purple. ; )
I love this perspective and am hopping out into the hood now, looking for yes and yay! I feel some of the lingering energy of that next door, thank heavens!! Miss you tons.
Hi Agent Motte! I’m so glad I have the best detective in the world covering the ‘hood! ; )
Yes, please, send me your eyewitness dispatches so I can remain connected to all the fun and goodness you’re experiencing. That way it will (kind-of) feel like I’m still next door. I miss you tons too! xox, FcF
This post had me giggling with delight. Especially with Jeff getting into the act. I just love the energy you’re putting out. It put a smile on my face and sparked positive energy into my day.
XOXO,
Marcy
Hi Marcy! Thanks for stopping by today – it’s so fun to see your name pop into my Yes and Yay Universe! ; ) I’ve recruited Jeff as my #1 “Dee Dee” sidekick and he’s even willing to share his mug on my blog – bonus!
Sending love to you my dear – hope to see you in PT soon!
xo
Frances
I am so glad I found your blog. A breath of fresh air in this world. And I am so glad I follow Kristina’s work and she recommended you! I will look for signs of your friendly universe theory around Vermont. Thanks you Frances.
Hi Caryn – I’m so glad you stopped in to say hello! Thanks for your heart-felt note this morning – Kristina is a gem. I truly love connecting the delight-dots like this – one of the primary reasons I started this blog!
Yes, **please do** report back with your evidence of a Friendly Universe in your beautiful state of Vermont (I was last there traveling through on my bicycle over 10 years ago) I’ll be sure to include it here!
Hugs from here in Port Townsend,
Frances
I love this, Frances! I am TOTALLY going to be on the lookout for signs of friendly, happy people. Thanks for making me smile – again.
Hi Alyson – thanks for popping in! Yes! Please submit your evidence – I’m sure is is bountiful in your neck of the woods and I’d love to include it in follow up posts! (and you’ll get a gold star as a special thanks!)
Hugs from here,
xo Frances
