There’s nothing more fun than rekindling a romance, especially when the affair has gone a little stale or feels a little stagnant.
Today I’m getting reacquainted with my inner Muse. Yep, she’s the one who needs a little extra wooing. She’s the one that sparkles with all sorts of ideas and loves it when I take out a fresh sheet of paper and a big colorful pen. We like to spend lots of time together writing and mapping out ideas, filling notebooks with our stories, doodles and dreams.
Unfortunately, my Muse has been trapped in the dark recesses of my head, buried deeply under the dense layers of MY Life. Ugh – I hate it when my life takes on serious, bold and capital letters like that!
It means that all the ordinary life stuff that needs my attention shoves right on past my little Muse, ignoring her quavering resentful voice that says, “hey wait a minute, what about our special time together?”
I’ve ignored her completely and there’s been a serious lack of sparks and romance between us. Shame on me!
Thankfully, when Cynthia Morris announced her latest Free Write Fling, my Muse took over the computer mouse and signed us up. She and I were handed a beautiful invitation to reunite between the covers of my journal.
We have an opportunity to dream and write together, to fill up blank pieces of paper, for 15 minutes every day for the next 31 days. Hooray for us!

Voila! There’s no need for me to gift my Muse with chocolate, flowers and champagne. She’s happiest with paper, pen and my loving attention!
Now that my Muse and I are beginning our passionate Spring Fling (ooo la la!), you may see us holding hands in a local cafe, sitting on a festive blanket at the beach, or claiming a table at the library. Perhaps we’ll even Fling together on the ferry?! Yes oh yes!
